Nominee's Accomplishments at the High School Level in Kentucky:

Stanley Herndon was a standout basketball player at Glasgow Ralph Bunche High School, where he was the leading scorer and assist player in 1953-1954 and again in 1955-1956. He made the All-District East 41 team and set a scoring record at Ralph Bunche by netting 46 points against Horse Cave in 1956. Two of Stanley's fondest memories were hitting last-second shot, at half court, against Franklin Lincoln High School and beating every team in Region 3 in 1956 He was the first Basketball player from Ralph Bunche to receive an athletic scholarship in basketball; he attended Kentucky State College which is now Kentucky State University. He continued playing basketball after college in the Air Force and made the All-Air Force team in 1964. Stanley ( Stan ) Herndon had a stellar career in the Air Force, playing basketball for several Air Force bases from 1958-1981 He set a record at Westover AFB, scoring a record- high 53 points, 55 points at Kindley AFB in Bermuda and was selected to the All-Air Force Team in 1964. He was the leading scorer for Minot AFB, Minot, N. D. in 1971-1973 and was selected to the Northern 8th Air Force All-Tournament Team in 1973. Stan retired as a captain from the USAF ( Medical Corps ).He now resides in Louisville, Kentucky.
