Nominee's Accomplishments at the High School Level in Kentucky:
A five-sport letterman (football, basketball, baseball, track and swimming), Skeeters is one of the finest all-around athletes to come out of Manual. As a senior in 1952, he led Manual to the state basketball finals, only to lose to Cuba in the championship game, then propelled the baseball team to a 33-3 record and the state championship that spring. After a stint in minor league baseball, Skeeters returned to his alma mater and guided the Crimsons to a state title in 1962 (the school's last baseball championship).
