Nominee's Accomplishments at the High School Level in Kentucky:
An All-State and All-Region selection at Pleasure Ridge Park, Burton averaged 18 ppg as a senior to lead PRP to a 23-2 record and delivered the game-winner as the Panthers upset top-ranked Shawnee, 92-91, in the region tournament quarterfinals - a game in which they trailed by 18 at the half. He went on to star at Eastern Kentucky University, leading the Colonels to the 1972 NCAA Tournament as team captain. Following his collegiate career, Burton was selected by the Indiana Pacers in the 1972 ABA Draft. He was inducted into PRP's inaugural Hall of Fame Class in 2021.
